GM Films International in association with SKKA Films is pleased to announce the release of the Tamil Australian feature Kaazh (pronounced ‘Caaz’hl’).
Kaazh, the latest film from Director Mohanraj VJ, provides a heartfelt insight into the challenges faced by migrants.
Filmed in Melbourne Australia, the film draws on the Director’s own experiences and portrays the dreams and struggles of a Tamil couple (Yugendran Vasudevan, Mimi Leonard), and the adjustment issues faced by an international student (Siddarth Anbarasu).
Hardworking and desperate to succeed, they each grind away at their jobs, striving to achieve their own version of the Australian Dream.
In the words of Writer and Director Mohanraj VJ, “When most of us think of life in a foreign country, we imagine life settled. A luxurious car, lots of money, a house with all the modern amenities. But in reality, that’s not how it is. These people are all refugees forging a new identity, a new face for themselves. Trapped and struggling in this new, ever-changing world, they are prisoners of their time, of fate. This film is dedicated to those who bravely step into a new country, with hope, strength, and resolve.”
Tamil audiences will be well acquainted with actor and playback singer Yugendran Vasudevan who recently appeared on the latest ‘Bigg Boss’ Tamil season 7.
Audience may also recognise Kamal Krishna (Sergeant Sanjay on the recent series Shantaram) and Mark Robert Walters (bank manager John Sparks in Night Shift).
Mimi Leonard, Siddarth Anbarasu, Anthony Fogas and Ashwin Viswanathan round out a well-balanced cast.
Kaazh will officially premiere in Chennai, India on Friday, 05 January 2024, and in Melbourne, Australia on Saturday, 24 February 2024.
A general theatrical release through Village Cinemas is expected in April 2024.
