The FBI is investigating the shooting at a Saturday night rally for former president Donald Trump as an assassination attempt, naming 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pa., as the suspected gunmen. The attack at the Butler, Pa., rally left one attendee dead and critically injured two others. Trump, who is set to be named the Republican presidential nominee this week at the party’s national convention, said on Truth Social that he was “shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.” Photos and videos from the rally showed Secret Service agents whisking away the former president, his face bloodied and his fist raised.
