Ibadan, Nigeria – In a groundbreaking announcement at the Tech Expo event in Ibadan on Thursday, Bpay LTD unveiled its latest platform update, enabling electricity payments across Nigeria. This new feature promises to enhance the payment experience for both residents and power companies, while improving transparency, security, and efficiency in the sector.
Speaking at the event, Bpay’s CEO and Founder, Oladipupo Abosede, shared his vision for the platform. Abosede, an engineering graduate from the University of Lagos, explained that Bpay’s capabilities extend well beyond traditional payment systems. “Bpay is designed to address a wide range of top-up needs. We’ve created a fully integrated system that simplifies daily tasks for users, telecoms, and electricity companies. It’s not just about recharge – it’s about making life easier for everyone involved,” Abosede stated.
Bpay’s innovative platform not only offers seamless electricity payments but also integrates additional features, including live updates on different networks, community forums, and emergency alert systems. This multipurpose platform provides residents with an efficient, secure way to manage payments, while offering power companies tools to streamline operations and increase transparency.
To ensure the highest level of data privacy, Bpay’s platform is fully compliant with the Nigerian Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) Act of 2013, an aspect Oladipupo Abosede emphasized at the event. “We prioritize data security and privacy, ensuring that users and companies alike can trust the platform with their information,” he added.
Power industry stakeholders also expressed their enthusiasm for the platform. Sola Adebimpe, a manager at the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) in Lagos, commended Bpay’s impact on operations, stating, “The automation of payments, service charges, and communication between residents has transformed our operations. Since implementing Bpay’s software, our workload has drastically reduced. It’s a game-changer for EKEDC managers.”
Additionally, Niran Adelosun, a member of the South West Telecom Security Committee, highlighted the platform’s broader impact, praising it as a solution to longstanding industry challenges. Bpay’s holistic approach positions it as a leader in payment management technology, leveraging digital solutions to address Nigeria’s growing demand for reliable, automated recharge systems.
As Nigeria’s urban population continues to rise, Bpay’s technology-driven approach signals a promising future for the nation’s automated payment systems. With features designed to benefit residents and utilities alike, Bpay is paving the way for a more efficient, secure, and integrated experience for all.
