The House is voting Tuesday on whether to make Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) its next speaker. Jordan, a conservative firebrand who is allied with former president Donald Trump, was chosen by fellow Republicans on Friday to lead the House but must win a majority in the full chamber to take the gavel. Jordan, the Judiciary Committee chairman, has mounted an aggressive pressure campaign to gain the support of more than 50 Republican holdouts skeptical of his ability to lead.
